Cman's Review of the Online Opportunity Blog

I stumbled upon Jay's blog Online Opportunity, which is a blog about make money online, quite a while back and it was an instant favorite of mine. Since I am always looking for opportunities to make money online this site has been very helpful. I noticed several weeks ago that he was running a 100$ contest for the best review, see the post and rules here, and was planning on writing this review several days ago. I have been extremely busy and just hadn't got to it yet.

Today I was over at a B Money Savvy, a site ran by a friend of mine(i figured a plug for you was in order Lori) and noticed she had beat me to it and written a review of Jay's site. Well that combined with the looming deadline prompted me to finally give you, my readers, the review and take advantage of Jay's contest offer. Thanks Jay and here is your review!

Jay, like many of us, has noticed the fact that many online opportunities require a certain amount of money up front for it and then more often than not just don't deliver on their "promises" or provide much return on the investment. Well this is where Jay's blog comes in. Here, in his own words, is his commitment to helping people.

This site, then, is dedicated to the idea that making money online doesn't have to be expensive. But it also requires some work. And for those of you looking for the next silver bullet, I’ll review the opportunities that would have appealed to me when I first started, and let you know which ones look good, and which ones look like scams.

I’ll spend the money and take the risk, so you don’t have to.

My hope is that by steering you in the direction of opportunities that have a better chance of working for you, you won’t get discouraged like so many people who get lured in by hype and then fail at programs. Keep working at it, and you can get what you’re looking for.

I believe Jay to be sincere and honest in this commitment. This commitment is reflected in how his site is ran and in it's design and layout.

1. One of the first things I noticed when I first visited his site is the almost complete absence of monetization. This to me sent a clear message that he was about informing people first and making money off the blog second. While he surely makes money off affiliate links in reviews even these are very unobtrusive in nature.

2. The second thing I noticed was that he has recent readers and top commentators sections in his far right column. He is building a community of like minded individuals and isn't afraid to send some support back to his supporters.

3. The site is well organized with recent posts, top posts, and category links. It is easy to navigate and locate information that you are looking for. Many times I will simply pick a category and just read all the posts and soak up all the information.

Okay and now one small thing I noticed of which I am critical. I am using IE7 and, for me at least, the mag glass graphic in the site search block doesn't quite line up with the search term field.

Well there it is folks. I hope this has given you an idea of what to expect when you visit his site. Once again thanks to Jay for the great site and this contest opportunity.

later all and have a profitable and productive day

What the F Does the C Stand 4

I know all of you have been waiting with baited breathe for my first contest. Well we are taking the plunge together. Here is the chance for all of you to win something for doing almost nothing. Hopefully you won't think this Contest is full of Sh-t . For many many years I have had the "nickname," I guess you could call it, of Cman. Here lately, probably due in part to #10 in my 10 Reasons John Chow Probably Thinks This Blog Is About Him article, I have been getting asked more and more what the C in Cman stands for. Herein lays the focus of this contest. For the person who can guess what the C in Cman stands for I will give them $100. If multiple people guess correctly the winner will be chosen by random drawing from among the correct entries. If no one guesses correctly I will randomly pick from all entries and will award the winner of the losers $20. Clarification: 1. In the words of Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez, "There can be only One." Winner that is. E...

Are We Too Connected?

I have asked myself, and others, this question many times. It all started with the answering machine. Then we had emails, mobile phones, and now mobile phones with emails. We now have Twitter, & ppl posting constantly about their lives. It isn't that I don't see how it could benefit this blog, but simply put, quite a bit of the time I don't give a da-- that you are sitting in Starbucks reading a book. Unless of course there is some benefit to me from that information, such as you are a friend I'm meeting for coffee. Also, I really don't figure you give a da-- that I am sitting somewhere either. I understand Twitter goes beyond that, but you get the point. I use twitter, and yes I've posted that I was sitting in a Starbucks. So we have people running around with their iPhones and Crackberries worried they are missing emails, phone calls, and text messages. They are doing this while listening to music and Twittering away. With all of the social networking a...
