Choosing Anchor Text For Your Internal Links

Internal page links are an area over which you have complete control yet many people don't pay enough attention to them. You have the greatest control over links from within your own web site so take advantage of that control. Sometimes it is hard to control how others link to you, but you can always do a good job of providing great links to yourself using internal site linking. Here are some rules to follow when creating your Internal Page Links. Make sure that the anchor text for you link is relevant to your target page Whenever it is possible use words similar to those expressed in the title of the target article or page you are linking to. Make sure the anchor text is relevant and that the link title and the title of the article, post or page match the main keywords of the target page. Having a few of those ubiquitous "click here" links scattered around might make you look a bit more natural, but for the most part your links should describe what is on the other ...

Black Friday, Free Cell Phones, And Making Money

Okay well I would assume that by now you have probably come across a Black Friday ad online somewhere. There are entire sites devoted year 'round to just that one day. Stores purposefully leak the ads to build buzz. People get in line at midnight, or earlier in some cases, just to get that TV, Computer, or toy for their kid. A lot of brick-and-mortar stores have started extending the Black Friday sales to their online stores as well. The online store runs the sale the same hours as the in-store sale and with many offering free site-to-store shipping this is fast becoming the way to go for many consumers. I know for me I have pretty much quit going out on Black Friday. I never, well once about 10 years ago, gotten what I really wanted and wasted my day trying to get. I would just get frustrated and stressed and end up wasting the day anyway. So now I do the online shopping thing, or I convince some poor gullible soul to go out for me :). Well I wanted to make my contribution to ...

Are We Too Connected?

I have asked myself, and others, this question many times. It all started with the answering machine. Then we had emails, mobile phones, and now mobile phones with emails. We now have Twitter, which I have yet to embrace. It isn't that I don't see how it could benefit this blog, but simply put I don't give a da-- that you are sitting in starbuck's reading a book. I don't figure you give a da-- that I am either. I understand Twitter goes beyond that, but you get the point. So we have people running around with their iPhones and Crackberries worried they are missing emails, phonecalls, and text messages. They are doing this while listening to music and Twittering away. With all of the social networking apps for the new smart phones, I have to admit I do love my iPhone, they are probably running an app that allows them to geotag the picture they just took, just before playing live poker and chatting with other players.... We all need to just unplug, turn off, disco...

Blogging Freedom - America Vs. Malaysia

Be thankful live in America where you can blog with freedom. You can blog critically of your government without fear of prison. The recent Presidential election was an example of the power and influence of the new online media, including highly respected and wide read blogs. This was the first Presidential election ever where the majority of people 18-34 got their information from the web. The internet is a key source of independent news in Malaysia where the government exercises tight control on the mainstream media. Bloggers are now increasingly in the government's sights with several being charged with sedition. One of the most influential bloggers in Malaysia was jailed and just recently released. later all and have a profitable and productive blogging day Get more profitable and productive information by subscribing to my FEED or clicking the links below to subscribe to my feed, bookmark my site, or add me to your favorites. The Changing Abode

Since I moved out of my last residence back in the middle of June I have been a vagabond. I have temporarily been staying with friends and family and looking for a place to call my own. Now you may be wondering why it took so long? Well for me it was a very big decision. I have two kids and where I live has a big impact on them as well. At the present time they don't live with me, but I am hopeful that they will be in the near future. Because of this I had to take them into account when it came to size and location. I looked at a ton of places in many many different municipalities. Well I finally decided on a place last week and put down my deposit. I have never rented before, but given my situation at the moment I have not been looking to buy. Well, I met the owner of the place last night and signed the lease. I now have keys to my brand new place. To say I'm a bit stoked is probably an understatement. It will be so nice to have my own place again. It will be next week befor...

The Power Of Blogging

Monday night around 11:45ish I was sitting watching some TV, blogging, & chatting with friends when suddenly the whole house went black. I had no power. This lasted for about an hour and then everything returned to normal. I was using my laptop but I had my battery removed so when the power shut off so did the computer. I didn't feel like digging around in the office in the dark to find the battery. It could be so many places depending on the mood I was in when I removed it last. Anyway, this little scenario got me thinking about blogging without power. I would define power as having control of, authority, or influence over others. How does one define the power of a blog? There are various rankings from Technorati, Alexa, Google, and others as well. What do they mean though? What do they represent and do they give a good indication of the power of a blog? Does a blog that had a PR6 in October last year that now has a PR4 have less power? What about if that same blog now has 100...
