Is Twitter Harming Relationships?

You have probably heard about Jennifer Aniston dropping John Mayer over his Twitter obsession. Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore had a few arguments over Ashton's constant twittering and of course the picture. There is even a new term for the twittering Hollywood crowd. Twitterati. Those two are highly publicized and talked about cases. What about others in the twittering masses that have ruined a relationship by constant connection via twitter, facebook, or other social media? Do you have any stories where social media has damaged a relationship?

I used to be on Myspace, I've never been on Facebook, and I just recently started using Twitter. I like to stay in touch with friends and stay connected, but I'm not sure about the efficay of constant contact with far away strangers. I have seen people ignore all of the wonderful people around them because they were on the phone talking, texting, twittering, or checking Facebook. When used properly I think social media is a great tool and a great way to stay connected to real live see-once-in-a-while friends and family. I also think it is a great way for a blogger to connect on a more personal level with people. What do you think about twittering and blogging? Does twittering help or hurt? Does a twittering blogger help or harm his relationship with readers?

What the F Does the C Stand 4

I know all of you have been waiting with baited breathe for my first contest. Well we are taking the plunge together. Here is the chance for all of you to win something for doing almost nothing. Hopefully you won't think this Contest is full of Sh-t . For many many years I have had the "nickname," I guess you could call it, of Cman. Here lately, probably due in part to #10 in my 10 Reasons John Chow Probably Thinks This Blog Is About Him article, I have been getting asked more and more what the C in Cman stands for. Herein lays the focus of this contest. For the person who can guess what the C in Cman stands for I will give them $100. If multiple people guess correctly the winner will be chosen by random drawing from among the correct entries. If no one guesses correctly I will randomly pick from all entries and will award the winner of the losers $20. Clarification: 1. In the words of Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez, "There can be only One." Winner that is. E...

Win $50! With The Stripping Aristologist - Contest

NOTE: Due to personal illness I have not been available and therefore have extended the contest through October 31st @ 4:00 PM CST. Well the September Contest is finally here. I have been pretty much MIA for a little over a week to take care of some offline "stuff." By the way, it is nigh on impossible to blog by cell phone. I am back now though and getting into the groove again and felt like giving something away! The contest rules are simple. Of course I can't make them totally idiot proof, last month proved that :), because there will always be some "brilliant" idiot that makes it through all the idiot proofing in place. That said here it is. Oh and read everything before doing anything :) . The Contest Guess my favorite Gourmet Chef . You don't even have to be right to win! I have been asked many times why I sometimes blog about Boca Java Coffee , La Cense Beef , and Dale and Thomas Popcorn as Seen on Rachel Ray! . Well it is for two reasons. One, as ...

Are We Too Connected?

I have asked myself, and others, this question many times. It all started with the answering machine. Then we had emails, mobile phones, and now mobile phones with emails. We now have Twitter, & ppl posting constantly about their lives. It isn't that I don't see how it could benefit this blog, but simply put, quite a bit of the time I don't give a da-- that you are sitting in Starbucks reading a book. Unless of course there is some benefit to me from that information, such as you are a friend I'm meeting for coffee. Also, I really don't figure you give a da-- that I am sitting somewhere either. I understand Twitter goes beyond that, but you get the point. I use twitter, and yes I've posted that I was sitting in a Starbucks. So we have people running around with their iPhones and Crackberries worried they are missing emails, phone calls, and text messages. They are doing this while listening to music and Twittering away. With all of the social networking a...
