Transform Your Blog By Changing Yourself - Part 1 - Practice

You have a choice. Would you rather grind away at a blog that no one is reading, or have a blog read by thousands and earning you a nice income? Be honest, winning is more fun. Success is better than failure. You can't change other blogs. You can't change other bloggers in your niche, but you can change your yourself and you can change your blog. You start with yourself. You cannot blame your lack of success on the big bad blog. You can't blame others for your shortcomings. If you want a high performing blog you can ill afford to simply be an ordinary blogger there are hundreds of those to go around. This article is the first in a series about transforming your blog by changing yourself into a better blogger.

Be Better - Practice

To be really good, heck even moderately good, at anything in life it takes practice. Lots and Lots of practice. Want to be a better speaker, better writer, better golfer, better whatever it may be? Practice. We have all heard the saying "practice makes perfect" or the slightly modified version "perfect practice makes perfect performance." Those are so true. Is there something you would like to be able to do well? You must practice. This holds true throughout life. Raw ability oft times will be trumped by superior effort. How many times have you seen a talented team get beat by one with less talent but more hustle, more desire. Just because you are good at something doesn't mean you don't have to practice. It doesn't mean you don't have to put in the time it takes to improve. Not good at something? Practice until you are. Are you already good? You can be better. Practice until you are. If you will incorporate a philosophy of practice, continuous improvement, into our life you can change yourself and your blog.

Blogging, for most, isn't something they have an innate talent for. Being a successful blogger takes practice. Do you want to be a better blogger? Better writer? Better Marketer? Better Designer? You may not be the best writer around the blogosphere, but that is okay you can get better through practice. Do you want to write with passion? Practice. Writing with passion can only come from passion. You can't write passionately unless you are writing about something you are passionate about. Write articles and then have a friend read them. Read them over yourself several times and make changes. Encourage interaction and critique from fellow bloggers on your writing style. You don't have to be a great writer to be a successful blogger, but you do have to be a good writer. Remember, effort in most cases can trump ability. Don't stop trying to improve. This blog has evolved and improved over time as I have learned new things and tried new things. I am constantly writing and re-writing articles and having a friend read them over. I practice blogging. I am certainly not the best writer, but I know that I have improved since the start of this blog. I, You can be better.

Use analytical tools so that you have some quantitative feedback on your efforts. Don't know tons about ad placement. Try, practice, different ad placements, color schemes, etc. to see what works best. Practice. Not good at writing ad copy? Practice. Try different styles, different keywords, different phrases, etc. Practice marketing, practice writing, practice, practice, practice blogging. You can be a better blogger it only takes a bit of practice.

Do you have examples from your own life, your blog, where practice has brought about improvement? Share your stories of success. Share your firsthand knowledge of the benefits of practice. Lets all strive together to be better people and better bloggers.

What the F Does the C Stand 4

I know all of you have been waiting with baited breathe for my first contest. Well we are taking the plunge together. Here is the chance for all of you to win something for doing almost nothing. Hopefully you won't think this Contest is full of Sh-t . For many many years I have had the "nickname," I guess you could call it, of Cman. Here lately, probably due in part to #10 in my 10 Reasons John Chow Probably Thinks This Blog Is About Him article, I have been getting asked more and more what the C in Cman stands for. Herein lays the focus of this contest. For the person who can guess what the C in Cman stands for I will give them $100. If multiple people guess correctly the winner will be chosen by random drawing from among the correct entries. If no one guesses correctly I will randomly pick from all entries and will award the winner of the losers $20. Clarification: 1. In the words of Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez, "There can be only One." Winner that is. E

The Stripping Aristologist Contest Winner

Well as you can see from the above screen capture the winning entry is #5. Heading over to the contest post and looking through the comments and the trackbacks I found that Anton of Link Right Contests was entry #5 with his guess of Julia Child. The actual answer was incorrect so he won the $50 but not the bonus prize. I was a bit generous to 2 entries that commented and entered but did not give the link. I had to search their blog to find the answer. There were several that commented and gave a link to their blog but I could not find a post about the contest or any links back to this blog. Anywho....Congrats to Anton and thank you all so much for reading and taking the time to interact with this blog and really make it what it is. Oh and Anton you might want to consider some kind of Contact Me link for your blog. Other than trackback to your post and a comment I have no way to contact you regarding your winning entry. Having a Contact Me is one of the first things any blogger should
