To Thine Own Self Be True - Transform Your Blog By Changing Yourself - Part 2

You have a choice. Would you rather grind away at a blog that no one is reading, or have a blog read by thousands and earning you a nice income?
excerpt from Transform Your Blog By Changing Yourself - Part 1 - Practice

"To thine own self be true…"

Most of us are familiar with the above quote from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, but how many of us know the rest of the line? “And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou can not then be false to any man.” Unless you are fist true to yourself, you cannot be true to others. You have to be yourself and be honest with yourself about who you are and what you are. You can't be all things to all people. You can't please all the people all the time. We've heard the cliches but they are true. There are so many people that are miserable because they are living their life trying to be something they are not. Trying desperately to hold together the pieces of the simulacrum they have built of themselves.

To me living your life for other people, trying to be what other people want you to be, and creating a facade is the ultimate selfishness. Let me explain. When you are constantly spinning your life to fit some vague reflection of your true self you aren't being true with others. In a sense, in living your life for others, in trying so hard to please others, you are practicing the ultimate in selfishness. You are never letting people see the true you - only exposing the parts you want people to see and masking the ones you don't. You can never really love or be loved unless you first are honest with yourself and who and what you are.

Be yourself. Be honest with yourself about who and what you are - your nature. The more you practice this you will find more contentment, more happiness, more love and certainly more peace. Gnothi Seauton - "know thyself." Know and be known.

To thine own Blog be true…

Your blog can't be all things to all people. You need to blog who you are. What are you passionate about? Answer that and then blog it. Your blog, in a manner of speaking, is an extension of self. If you are not being true to yourself you won't be or ring true with your readers. Your blog can't fill all niches. Your blog can't be all things to all readers. If your blog is about making money, stick with it. If your blog is of a more personal nature, write with passion again stemming from what you love and are passionate about.

I have read many blogs where there seemed to be no focus to the content. One day the articles would be about making money, the next about a movie. Honestly I don't read blogs like this much, if at all. I like blogs that stick to their niche, and I feel the large percentage of readers do also. There are a few blogs that have been successfull with diverse topics they are, in my opinion, the exception to the rule. I highly recommend to those of you looking to make money that you pick your niche wisely, create a wealth of content related to that niche, and always stay true if you want to be successful in Blogging.

Do you agree or disagree? What is your opinion on blog niches? Are you being true to yourself? How about to your blog?

I think you wrote this in a really creative way.

I definately can relate to this because I am having trouble finding "myself" on my money blog. I don't think even I know what I want to do with it exactly:(

I'll get it figured out with time.

What the F Does the C Stand 4

I know all of you have been waiting with baited breathe for my first contest. Well we are taking the plunge together. Here is the chance for all of you to win something for doing almost nothing. Hopefully you won't think this Contest is full of Sh-t . For many many years I have had the "nickname," I guess you could call it, of Cman. Here lately, probably due in part to #10 in my 10 Reasons John Chow Probably Thinks This Blog Is About Him article, I have been getting asked more and more what the C in Cman stands for. Herein lays the focus of this contest. For the person who can guess what the C in Cman stands for I will give them $100. If multiple people guess correctly the winner will be chosen by random drawing from among the correct entries. If no one guesses correctly I will randomly pick from all entries and will award the winner of the losers $20. Clarification: 1. In the words of Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez, "There can be only One." Winner that is. E

The Stripping Aristologist Contest Winner

Well as you can see from the above screen capture the winning entry is #5. Heading over to the contest post and looking through the comments and the trackbacks I found that Anton of Link Right Contests was entry #5 with his guess of Julia Child. The actual answer was incorrect so he won the $50 but not the bonus prize. I was a bit generous to 2 entries that commented and entered but did not give the link. I had to search their blog to find the answer. There were several that commented and gave a link to their blog but I could not find a post about the contest or any links back to this blog. Anywho....Congrats to Anton and thank you all so much for reading and taking the time to interact with this blog and really make it what it is. Oh and Anton you might want to consider some kind of Contact Me link for your blog. Other than trackback to your post and a comment I have no way to contact you regarding your winning entry. Having a Contact Me is one of the first things any blogger should
